superstars Gloria and Emilio Estefan introduce
BONGOS CUBAN CAFÉ, a unique blend
of authentic Cuban cuisine and the nostalgia
of Havana during 1950's glory days. Presented
in a setting of tropical deco architectural
design, BONGOS CUBAN CAFE's flagship location
opened in late 1997 at Downtown Disney
at the Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida
followed by a new location in the heart
of Downtown Miami, Florida.
“ We
have the opportunity to showcase our rich
Cuban culture with the rest of the world.
Our Bongos Cuban Café (in Disney World)
has had great success, and since this one
(in Miami) opened we couldn’t be happier,” says
Gloria Estefan.
The
Bongos Cuban Café in Miami, Fla. inaugurated
in April of 2000. It came on the heels of
the wildly successful Orlando, Fla. flagship
location. It raises two stories at the plaza
level of The American Airlines Arena and
overlooks the port of Miami, Biscayne Bay,
and the downtown Miami skyline. Bongos can
be spotted from miles away because of the
giant pineapple, which rises from the roof.
The pineapple has become a well-known symbol
for the restaurant.
 The
16,000 square foot restaurant by day, disco
by night brings an unprecedented blend of
authentic Cuban cuisine and romantic atmosphere
of old Havana to Miami. The growing popularity
of Bongos Cuban Café has made it a
desirable venue for concerts, special events,
and even the filming of music videos. In
the past year, Bongos Cuban Café has
hosted such events as the Billboard Music
Awards after party and the Premio Lo Nuestro
after party.
After
hours on Friday and Saturdays, our patrons
can groove to tantalizing Latin rhythms and
be awed by our fascinating light show. By
eleven o’clock, large lines have formed
outside Bongos Cuban Café. Eager locals
in there twenties and thirties await their
turn to experience the ultimate in Latin
music and atmosphere.
Aside
from Bongos Cuban Café in Miami, the
Estefans own three other restaurants. One
is located in Downtown Disney World; Bongos
Cuban Café Orlando and the other two
are located in the heart of South Beach;
Larios on the Beach, a Bongos Cuban Café Restaurant and
Café Cardozo.
